Tibet Foundation announces a new visiting Doctor

Jan 19, 2016

We are delighted to announce the Dr Kelsang Dhonden will be our new visiting Doctor

Following the very sad news last September of Dr Dorjee's unexpected passing-away, we are delighted to be able to welcome a new Tibetan Doctor, Dr Kelsang Dhonden, to the United Kingdom.

Dr Kelsang Dhonden has been highly recommended to us by his former teachers, Dr Tenpa and Dr Tamdin (both of whom were at one time the Foundation's visiting doctor). Dr Dhonden studied at Ganden Choeling Monastery in Yumdrok, and Tibet University, Lhasa, before studying English at TCV Suja, and Tibetan Medicine at Men Tsee Khang, Dharmasala (the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute). On completion of his medical study, he has worked variously in Tibetan clinics around India, and the Research Department of Men Tsee Khang. He has written several Tibetan books on Tibetan Medicine, and was elected as a member of the Central Council of Tibetan Medicine in 2012, serving as a member of the organising committee of the Second International Tibetan Medical Conference in Dharamsala. Today he is the Junior Doctor in the renowned Dr Yeshi Dhonden's Clinic in Dharamsala, and has studied pharmacology, practical pulse-reading and urine analysis, and special practical and diagnostic lines for cancer and other diseases.

We are planning to bring Dr Kelsang to the UK between 24 and 28 February 2016, and again at the end of the year.
