The Director will take the executive role of running the charity together with hands-on-responsibility for the every day work of the organisation.


Post of Executive Director


Tibet Foundation (charity no. 292400) is a small charity, non- political Tibetan organisation involved in the preservation of Tibetan culture and the relief of poverty among Tibetan People. Founded in 1985 we work in India, Nepal, Tibet (China) and Mongolia in education, health care and economic development, helping Tibetan communities sustain their unique cultural and spiritual traditions. We also organize programmes in the UK and the West to promote and increase awareness of Tibetan culture.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and well organised individual with an excellent skill-set capable of taking the initiative in fundraising, strategy, organising short and long term plans of action, budgeting and contributing constructively to the development of the charity and its portfolio of projects.


The Director will take the executive role of running the charity together with hands-on-responsibility for the every day work of the organisation.


Title: Executive Director


Salary: £35,000 p.a. with an annual bonus based on funds raised

Job Type: Permanent position

Location: Southwark, London, UK
Period: Initially for one year subject to successful review


The ideal candidate would be someone who:


  • has a good knowledge of how charities work

  • has ability to develop and maintain the smooth running of

the administration

  • has excellent English language skills – written and spoken

  • has a passion for and experience in social media

  • is able to build and manage databases and websites to

provide a strong support foundation

  • is able to offer outstanding customer services

  • is able to plan and organise successful fundraising

  • is able to visualise and organise good public events for the


  • is able to provide the trustees with feedback on finance, projects and membership

  • has a background and interest in international development and Tibet. These would be useful, as would knowledge of Tibetan.




  • Overall administration of the charity

  • Fundraising and developing short and long term plans

  • Offering outstanding customer services

  • Writing appeal letters and reports

  • Making things work in the office and for the charity overall


Main Requirements:


  • Good knowledge of how charities work

  • Great passion for the aims and work of Tibet Foundation

  • Work in a team focused environment

  • Excellent skills for building strong relationships with donors and beneficiaries

  • Excellent English language skills in writing and communication

  • Excellent ability to make short and long term plans of action
