Winter clothing and medicine delivered to the Sershul Old Peoples’ Home in Tibet

Sershul, Zachukha in Tibetan is a nomadic area in Kham, now in the Kandze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province.
Sershul Tripa, the head of Sershul monastery has founded the Sershul Old Peoples’ Home. Tibet Foundation has been supporting the Home since 1996. Today it has 65 residents. Situated at 4,000 meters above sea level, temperature at minus 20 degrees in the winter and distance from Chengdu is three days journey by car. Sershul is known to be one the highest in altitude, longest in distance from developed areas and coldest place in Kham.
At an urgent request by the Sershul Old Peoples’ Home, the Foundation has provided clothing and medicine for the Home. Our regional representative Tsondue went to Chengdu to buy winter clothing, including set of quilts, pillows, bed cover, shoes and some vitamins and medicine and transported them to Sershul. On 25th January 2018 they were distributed to the residents supervised by Thukga, the head of the Home and Lama Khige of the Sershul monastery responsible for the Home.
Attached pictures taken by Tsondu include shopping goods in Chengdu, transporting them to Sershul and distributing goods to the residents in the Sershul Old Peoples’ Home. We would like to thank all our donors and Tsondue and his uncle for managing the distribution so successfully efficiently.
Please share this message and support the Foundation’s Aid to Tibet programme giving practical support to the Tibetan people.
Thank you.
