27 May 2018: Tibet Foundation celebrated the 19th anniversary of Samten Kyil - the Tibetan Peace Garden

Consecration and prayers
This year’s public event at Samten Kyil was attended by about 70 people, including the members of the Tibetan National Football Team who are in London to participate in the 2018 CONIFA World Football Cup. During the hour-long programme at the Garden, Drogon Gangri Karma Rinpoche from Martsang Kagyu London Centre performed the consecration, followed by a special prayer for the success of the Team. Volunteer boys and girls handed out Tibet Foundation T-shirts, pendants, flags and newsletters.
As part of its Art and Culture Programme, Tibet Foundation commissioned Samten Kyil and it was blessed and opened by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the 13th of May 1999.
Guests at the event
After the public event, a reception was held at the Tibet Foundation office in honour of the Team Tibet squad. Special guests included representatives from the Office of Tibet and leaders of the Tibetan community.
Dhondup Samten, the Executive Director of Tibet Foundation, during his address to the gathering, complimented the Team for its achievement and said “we will be cheering at every move that you make during the matches”. As an introduction to Tibet Foundation, he said, “sustaining Tibetan culture has been at the core of our work in Tibet and Tibetan diaspora communities for the last 33 years”.
The reception concluded with Tibet Foundation presenting a khata and gift to all the 25 members of the Team Tibet squad.
